studio momo is the home of my art work; floragraphy, kaua'i and etherea are my flower photograph portfolios.
in January of 2005 I began to work in earnest on indoor photography. the use of a square box, walled in white translucent fabric, allowed to shoot flowers within the box with a softer, diffuse light. the effect was emphasized in software, using the same soft focus techniques I sometimes use in the floragraphy portfolio, but to a more powerful extreme. the technique is akin to what was done in glamour photography during Hollywood's golden age: the photographer would use a thin coating of Vaseline on the lens to soften the subject. the same approach would work well with flowers, I thought, and here we are. click on a thumbnail to see the larger shot. to return to this page, click on the etherea portfolio link at left.
